Sex and the City 2

Sooo!!! After a long long wait "Sex and the City 2" released!! The most awaited movie of the year!! I went to watch the movie with my girls - high expectations, excitement, in spite of bad reviews I knew I could watch it on mute only because its SEX AND THE CITY!!
Half an hour into the movie and my dreams were shattered!!

Beginning with the story... RUBBISH!!! For the first 2 hours I kept waiting for something to happen... everything HAPPENED in the last half hour. No sex (since the Indian Censor Board practically cut out half the movie), No City (why the desert and sand and sand and sand?) I even yawned in the middle of the movie... in the middle of SATC!!

Carrie - If my husband gave me a black diamond solitaire for every guy i kissed, I would have covered half the world by now....what was that about? seriously??
Samantha - U know you are in Abu Dhabi, you can see they take offense if u try to seduce your male counterpart in public, you both stay in the same hotel, GET A ROOM! why the beach? why?
Charlotte - If you have a bra-less nanny and your husband's sprinkling water on her white t-shirt... GET ANOTHER NANNY!
Miranda - Hmm didn't really notice you much in the movie except a few nice dresses here and there..

Acting - SJP why why why were you so over excited to be in the sequel? Why were you hopping around like a new born bunny? And why in the name of God were your breasts pushed up so much through out the movie and shoved right into our faces? why??

Now, the fashion...
DISAPPOINTMENT!! Sex and the City 1 was heaven compared to this one... sorry but who can help comparing? SATC2 did not have one dress or accessory at which my heart jumped!! Except for the Christian Loubotin golden sparkle pumps.. I felt so let down... could have done so much better... But not entirely Patricia Field's fault... she did what the movie required... Never mind...

Heres a look at some of the garments:

Halston Heritage dress by Neiman Marcus along with a Chiristian Loubotin shoes, which I love, a Solange Azagury-Partridge necklace, Aviator and a Chanel clutch.

Emilio Pucci gown. I like. Those glasses!! I want!!!

Dress, Halston. Bag, Christian Loubotin. Pumps, Christian Loubotin. Orange Aviators, Ray Ban. Cuff, Amrita Singh. Jennifer Zeuner Clover Necklae.

Kim Catrall and Miley Cyrus in the same dress. Dress, thumbs up. But did those hideous shoes come with the dress? Miley, halloween's over, those horrendous spikes need to go, now!
I luv Kim's necklace though.

On Miranda - Bottega Veneta Dress. On Samantha - a dress by Patricia Fields, Very very sexy! On Charlotte - Dior all the way!

Like only what Carrie's wearing. Rest scares me!

SJP!!! How could you even agree to wear THAT!! The PANTS!! *Barf* need fresh air NOW NOW NOW

Back to the 80s ?? I like. Especially Samantha! Love that confidence!

And finally, the John Galliano for Dior newspaper print dress from his Fall 2000 collection... Some things are best left in the past... Sure newspaper prints rocked back then... no matter how much even SATC tries, it cannot hope to revive this!! Today, it is simply HIDEOUS!! Sorry SJP!

So thats about SATC2... I apologize for any kind of offense but I had extremely high hopes from this movie... Overall, apart from a few dresses and the golden sparkle shoes, its a thumbs down.

Later,

Heta.

Guess whoz back!!

Shalom!! MICHAEL JACKSON!

H+I once again!! (yes, we luv tres mode!)

Finally after 3 months of extreme hard work, sleepless nights - stressful days... my very first Fashion Show happened!! SHALOM! The S.N.D.T. fashion show!! My graduating show!! We had to work in pairs - obviously my soul mate Ishani & me worked together!! Our theme "THIS IS IT" was inspired by the legend, the King of Pop - Michael Jackson!

This Is It. Eight letters, Three words, One moment. Where the heart stops and expression takes over. Months of work, millions of thoughts, sweat, tears, blood and genius, all labor to produce that one moment where time stands still and the things that really matter take center stage.

Michael Joseph Jackson has reigned the world of music, dance and fashion right from the dazzling Sixties till his untimely death. Michael Jackson’s life generated controversy for years. It was a roller coaster of pain and bliss. The glossy glamour, the riches, his assets, his dream house – ‘Neverland Ranch’ and a wardrobe full of shimmering costumes did nothing to hide the internal despair that imprisoned his heart since childhood. A blotched past of brutal father, incessant name calling, and physical and emotional abuse engendered an endless ocean of grief. Lack of self-confidence led him to change his appearances several times. Music was his only escape from his sorrow. He lived in his own reality – indirect attempt to salvage his childhood. This reflected in his dramatic music videos, magnificent concerts, revered home and opulent dressing.

A sensitive, kind-hearted spirit mirrored the existence of Michael Jackson. He was a notable philanthropist and humanitarian acknowledged for significant donations. He cared excessively for nature, children and all of humanity. Our inspiration lies in the depths of his life – the highs and the lows – the glamour as well as the anguish.

In spite of the witch hunt, the allegations and the manipulations his genius will remain undiminished and untarnished. This is a celebration of just that. Just him. Just his music. As we stand on the threshold of our graduation, none other could ever inspire our emotions more aptly. Ladies and gentlemen, THIS IS IT. For us as it was for HIM!

Our illustration- though we changed a few things.. ( notice the back of the jumpsuit?)

Images of the Show:

At the entrance

Starting our show with a 30 second tribute to MJ dance!! <3>

Bondage pants roared on the ramp!!! :)

Inspired by the iconic "Thriller" jacket!!

Since he wore a lot of military jackets etc.. we made a RTW military T-Shirt!

Luv the shorts n pleated pants!

The dress that gave us a lotta truoble!! But worth the effort! A backless electric blue dress with zipper detailing(zipper lace! those aren't real zippers... cost effective, eh?)

The red jacket(abv) as well as the gold military inspired jackets with digitally printed lining. The print developed by us includes MJ's face, flowers, nature, animals, a monkey - displaying his glamorous life on the outside but caring & sensitive half on the inside!

The black bondage corset ! N the "Remember the time" video - Egyptian skirt inspired skirt!

The White Jumpsuit!!! The back is transparent - net with MJ's face embroidered on it! Unfortunately, model, Aanchal Kumar forgot to pull her hair ahead while turning around so it didn't show on the ramp :(

BLACK OR WHITE ??? :)

Ishani Tolia, Our hot model Romeo - who, btw, moonwalked on the ramp !!!
My stupid(but hot!) dress riding up!! Made me a teeny-weeny bit uncomfortable!

Nonetheless, MJ RULES!!

(P.S - Notice our MJ wigs, iconic sequined glove, studded leg warmers, booties n belts? Sweet eh? )

Happy New Year!!!

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!! (In case any1 reads this blog at all!!)
Anyway... little late for new yrs.. not tht it matters!!
As you guys already knw.. m not an avid blogger!! I sit for hours and hours on the net researching, reading, trend spotting, reading zillion blogs... just hvnt gotten down to writing my own in a while!!!

So here goes nothing AGAIN!!

WRITING!!
Well I've always been a fan of literature and languages.. if its possible I'd learn all the languages of the world(ha!) The entire concept of literature, Shakespeare plays, stories, dramas, poems has amused me right from school!! (No wonder i scored a 94 in English + topped in Art but got a 60 in MATH!!! :P) I am just not the type who'd pour the entire dictionary into all my posts/articles w/e! (again probably coz i dont KNOW the entire dictionary.. will be stealing word boxes from 'GRE' people soon!) I guess I am more of a STYLING person!! Normal people breathe, eat and sleep... whereas I, Heta Bhuta, am constantly thinking about what top will match what bottom, making mental notes about how the person could have dressed 'differently'(better!), criticizing people's clothing(in my mind obvsly!) sometimes...often.. mostly!!(even though I, myself, may be dressed like a pumpkin, it makes a difference when people around me are dressed badly!!! I get nightmares about it!)

Anyway, I basically ENJOY working with themes, planning creative stuff, conceptualizing!! So when I found out about "Star World Betty Of Elle Contest" I obviously had to take part!! I eat, drink and breathe fashion!! An internship at awesome magazines like Elle, Vogue, Grazia, Harpers etc is obviously like living my childhood dream!! I read a lot of blogs about interns "slogging" at fashion magazines!! But how can it possibly be "slogging" when you're living your dream!! I would undoubtedly enjoy every single second of it!! (AND boast about it!! Big HA!) I have soooo many ideas about styling shoots - themes, concepts, colours, backgrounds, locations, picking out clothes(from street to designer wear), mixing and matching and soo much more!! Styling has been my passion since school! Theres a reason why I went through 3 years of BSc. in Fashion at SNDT, Santacruz!!

So heres me, looking forward to styling for magazines/movies/any form of styling some day!! Hoping for the awesomest future ever!! God be with me!

Till next time!
Heta!
